Where It All Began
It didn't start with a business plan or a technical blueprint.
As someone who loves writing, sharing ideas, and learning from others, I have always admired how platforms like Substack, Ghost, and Beehiv give writes the power to publish and earn independently.
But after using and studying them for a while, I started asking myself a simple question:
"What if a creator wanted complete control – without limitations, fees, or dependency on a single platform?
That question didn't leave me.
So, I decided to build my own Substack-like platform – not as a copy, but as an evolution.
The Spark: Why This Matters
The creator economy is booming. Writers, educators, developers, and thought leaders are building audiences of thousands, sometimes millions – all from their laptops.
But there's hidden irony here:
Most of them are still renting space on someone else's platform.
Whether it's:
- Substack taking a 10% revenue cut,
- Medium controlling visibility through algorithms, or
- Beehiv limiting customization for brand identity
Creators often trade ownership for convenience.
The “Why” Behind the Build
Before writing any code, I asked myself why this idea deserved my time.
Here's what I found:
| Problem | What Creators Face | My Vision |
|---|---|---|
| Limited ownership | Platforms own the audience, data, and analytics. | Give creators full ownership and export options. |
| Lack of customization | Writers can’t freely design their newsletter or landing page. | Build modular themes and layouts. |
| High platform fees | 10–15% cuts from earnings hurt small creators. | Introduce transparent, minimal-fee models. |
| Poor integration | No easy way to connect with Notion, GitHub, or AI tools. | Create plugin-based extensibility. |
| Fragmented tools | Writers need 5 tools to publish, sell, and analyze. | Unite them into one ecosystem. |
Early Vision
I envisioned a product that empowers creators to:
- Write and publish easily – with a distraction-free editor.
- Send directly to subscribers – via integrated email and RSS.
- Monetize without friction – through direct subscriptions or donations.
- Analyze their growth – with transparent analytics.
- Customize freely – with plugins, themes, and integrations.
And most importantly – own it all.
The content, the audience, the brand – everything.
